Twin City Brewing is built on the simple joy of bringing people together over great beer. Our process combines scientific precision, creative artistry, and a whole lot of heart to create brews that reflect the spirit of the Alberni Valley.

Our approach to beer is rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and a relentless commitment to quality. We believe that great beer starts with great ingredients, so we source the finest malts, hops, and yeast to ensure every pint is exceptional. From time-honored styles to bold, innovative recipes, our brewing process blends science and artistry, allowing us to create beers that are both approachable and boundary-pushing. Every batch is brewed with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring consistency, flavor, and a sense of pride in every pour. Whether it’s a crisp lager, a hoppy IPA, or a unique seasonal release, our goal is to deliver beers that bring people together and keep them coming back for more.

Born in the Valley

Founder, Aaron Colyn grew up in Port Alberni, where his family’s garden center and floral shop introduced him to the grit, creativity, and community needed to run a small business. Though he initially pursued a career in medicine, Aaron discovered his true passion during a weekend homebrewing experiment. What started as a hobby quickly became an obsession, blending his love for science with the joy of crafting something that brought people together. After years of honing his craft, Aaron decided to take a leap of faith, combining his entrepreneurial spirit with his desire to create a social hub in his hometown.

With a vision for quality beer and community connection, Aaron launched a crowdfunding campaign in 2014 to bring Twin City Brewing to life. The outpouring of support from the community, alongside partnerships with like-minded individuals, turned a dream into a plan and a plan into reality. By March 2017, Twin City Brewing opened its doors, becoming a beloved local spot for fresh craft beer and scratch-made food. Through persistence, collaboration, and a dedication to continuous improvement, Aaron and his team have made Twin City Brewing a symbol of Port Alberni’s evolving spirit—a place where old friends reconnect, new friendships are forged, and the community thrives.


Before it became one, Port Alberni was two towns: Alberni and Port Alberni, collectively known as the Twin City. When the 1964 tsunami devastated the area, it took cooperation, resilience, and community spirit to rebuild. This shared history of perseverance and teamwork inspires everything we do at Twin City Brewing.

Port Alberni remains a place where collaboration fuels growth and where neighbors come together to create something better. That’s the legacy we honor in our name and in every pint we pour.

It’s spruce tip season once again! With help from friends at Forest For Dinner, the Spruce Tip variation of our blonde ale returns on tap and in cans!

Forget any notions of piney, sap-like flavours. These local sitka tips are bright, citrusy, and juicy! These little wonders are packed with vitamin C and impart earthy subtle notes of blackberries and lemon. A welcome accompaniment to our clean hop-forward blonde-wheat ale.

Lots going on with this one but everything here definitely has its place. Authentic? No, but it’s packed with many great flavours plus a nice amount of spice that builds.

On the menu as our featured rice bowl starting today. 

Jerk seasoned chicken thighs, lime coconut slaw, blackened corn, fresh diced mango, jerk sauce, lime coconut drizzle, green onion, rice and peas.
PARTLY CLOUDY 🌤️ We brought back our MANGO LASSI H PARTLY CLOUDY 🌤️
We brought back our MANGO LASSI HAZY PALE ALE because we had a few improvements we were keen on making. More mango. More vanilla. It’s really quite fantastic this time around and we think you should give it a try!

Brewed as a hazy pale ale with wheat and oats. We hop this one with Mosaic and El Dorado before parking it on copious amounts of mango and vanilla. Finally a smattering of cardamom goes right into the brite tank to seal the deal. Heads up that this one contains lactose.

6.0% ABV & 10 IBU.

On tap today and in 473ml cans as of tomorrow. Ready to accompany you on whatever weekend hijinx you get up to.

Our little taco side hustle is going well. We are now switching it up and refreshing the currently offered version. So if pizza and burgers aren’t calling to you, a taco just might.

JALAPEÑO BRISKET TACO
Smoked brisket, salsa verde crema, jalapeño, diced white onion, radish, cilantro, lime wedge. 

These come in orders of two for just $11. Extra hungry? Add a 3rd taco for $5. Easy peasy.
